Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is on place in Las Vegas I can definitely say is a MUST visit! This place has tons of Nevadas first history. There is a ton of gorgeous trails & scenery that make you feel like you’re completely somewhere else.  Yet, this oasis is only 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.

The park covers 3,800 acres and is home to Spring Mountain Ranch State Historic Park, which is a working ranch with a history dating back to the 1850s. Spring Mountain Ranch offers a variety of activities for visitors, including hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking.

Spring Mountain Ranch is also a great place to see native wildlife, including bighorn sheep and wild burros. Visitors can also take part in ranger-led programs, such as guided hikes and evening campfire programs. Whether you’re looking for a challenging hike or a relaxing picnic spot, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park has something for everyone.

Overall Review

Spring Mountain Ranch is packed with so much Nevada history. Not to mention the famous owners such as Vera Krupp and Howard Hughes.

When we stumbled upon this State Park, I had no idea I would end up loving it so much. The history and scenery are simply fascinating.

Be sure to ask the guides if they have any stories about the park, our guide had many interesting stories about all different parts of the park.

  • Day use entrance fee:  $10.00 per vehicle (Non-NV Vehicles: $15.00 per vehicle)

Hikes & Trails

With flowing water streams, cooler temperatures, and beautiful greenery, it’s hard to believe this oasis is just 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.

Much of Nevada’s early history is at Spring Mountain Ranch. While you’re here take a look at some of Nevada’s history and the oldest buildings that exist in the State.  There is even an 1860 Ranch Blacksmith Shop.

*Important Hiking Note: ALWAYS bring water when hiking! Especially in Las Vegas. Also, be sure to keep a sweatshirt packed in your bag, it can get cold quickly when the sun starts to set. And be sure to tell someone where and what trails you intend to hike. You won’t have cell phone service out here.

  • June, July & August: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

  • March: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
